The year has moved on and its been ages since I have posted anything, which is testament to just how busy we have been. LM has started a new year at "school" with all his little friends. For a while his behaviour improved due to his new surroundings and exciting new things to do. However, this appears to have been a short lived phase and it would seem that he has now outgrown the new room and new experiences. This is causing problems for the daycare workers and they are at a loss as to what to do with him.
The "problem" apparently, is that he is much more "advanced" than the kids in his room and is getting frustrated because they are unable to do the things he wants them to, just because they can't. So he pushes them about. When out in the playground he wants to be with the older kids and I have been told that his motor skills are better than some of the 4 year olds there.
Dilemma dilemma for mum!
Daycare briefly discussed 2 options, give him more stuff to do (which will mean that he is BORED at school when he gets there) or don't give him more, which causes problems now. What to do? Hmm, think I need to meet with the room teachers and the director to deal with this one... I don't want him to be bored now OR when he gets to school cause I don't want him to be pushing other kids around.
Anyway, LM has been having a ball lately. On the weekend he hung out with Poppy in Toon Town and helped take the dogs walking in the rain. Then in the arvo, after a much needed sleep, he had the opportunity to experience some of the Blues Festival in Toon Town. While there he hung out with Grandma and Grandpa as well as bumping into one of his little buddies.
On Monday we went Mushroom Hunting on the way out to Jenolan Caves in the pine plantations out there. We collected quite a nice basket full of yummy Saffron Milkcaps. LM thought it was a blast. Wasn't such a blast for me when he fell asleep in the car a few minutes before we arrived home, only to wake up when we got there... Talk about Tanti!!!
We have been blackberry picking a few times recently, which involves a walk up the hill, the collection and a hunt for Kangaroo's. If it wasn't for the kangaroo hunt at the end he wouldn't make it all the way. We have even been orchid hunting a few times, which he enjoys because he can take photos with Mummy's camera.
There have been a few fun sessions in the veg garden, with some raking, planting garlic, and picking the last of the pears and nashi's. LM is a big helper when it comes to picking the tomatoes (usually anyway). He loves to help feed the chooks and collect their eggs.
Coming up soon is a trip to the national folk festival, more mushroom hunting, more gardening, hopefully some camping, and other exciting adventures. LM has decided he likes computer games. Especially the part where he turns ON mummy's computer and puts the dvd into the computer. Then he comes to tell me what he has done!! Oh well. The games are fun language and nursery rhyme games.
When I get a chance I shall post a couple of photos of blackberry picking and other fun stuff.
